Ode to the New Year
I opened my eyes at New Year's
And glories of life I did see,
I had closed them, you see, at Christmas
After I finished the tree.
I opened my eyes at New Year's
to sights of delight that abound,
I looked and saw open highways
And thought, "No, I'm not duty-bound".
My mind is free from all worry
Happiness, the Key. And yes, Gold,
Why not have all of life's blessings
The highway of life can unfold?
They're yours for the giving and taking
And doing your best every day
To express Truth lying deeply within you
And pass on its seeds on the way.
What greater joy can we offer?
What greater truth to behold
May the world be richer in wisdom
For all those who seek the true Gold!
