You have just read a brief description of your first name and
its effect on your personality and life.
I came across the Kabalarian Philosophy and its understanding
of how your name creates your life in a chance
meeting twenty-eight years ago when I was just twenty-three
years old.
It was 1980 and I had just graduated from Concordia University
in mechanical engineering in Montreal, Quebec. The local job
market was quite bleak and all the personnel agencies said I
should go out west to Calgary, Alberta because there was an
oil boom going on and they were desperate for engineers. After
consulting with my parents and mulling it over for a couple
of days I made the big decision to load up my old Volvo with
my meager life possessions and as they say "Go west young
man!". How was I to know that that decision would change
my entire life ?
I travelled the long 3,000 mile journey on the Trans Canada
highway and finally arrived in Calgary. It took about two weeks
of job hunting and I had landed my first job as an engineer
in a fertilizer plant.
A few weeks later I was driving around
looking at small revenue properties and came across a small
four-plex apartment block that I thought I might go into partnership
with my father on. I noted the realtor's name and his number and
called the next day. When I called, the realtor was unfortunately
sick and not there to take my call but by chance
they passed me to another realtor named Renee. I arranged to
meet her later after work.
We met at her office and reviewed the details of the property
and as the meeting drew to a close she handed me her business
card. When I looked at the card I was surprised that her name
wasn't spelled "Renee" like I had assumed and was
used to from living in French speaking Quebec, but was spelled
"Ronaye". I remarked to her that, "That's a very
different spelling". She replied, "Oh, I just changed
my name".
"You changed your name?
Why did you change your name?",
I blurted back.
