Quiet Awareness

A balanced child is a quiet child because he is tuned closely to nature, and naturally unfolds his higher nature as he matures. One's higher nature is his intellectual plane of thinking where analysis, deduction, and natural discrimination become a natural part of his existence. Only man in his confused state becomes a noisemaker, spreading confusion and chaos all over the land.

A quiet and serious-minded person is naturally closer to nature; and being so, his awareness becomes more acute and he senses things far deeper than does the average individual. The reason of being is contained within being, and being within must be contacted through the higher senses divorced from the outer path of form, sense, emotion, noise, and confusion. This is why a deep problem requires quiet concentration and reflection, and why noises are so distracting.

Balance of mind sets a natural rhythm that creates order in the functions of the body; all things take place naturally and functionally without creating mental disturbance. Disorder in the body is the result of confusion of mind, which through greater degeneration of the body and nerve centres reacts and causes greater confusion of mind in what is termed pain, or fear, which is man's awareness of confusion uncontrolled.

Opportunities are the daily changes that nature provides. It is just like the earth as it spins in its orbit presenting another facet everyday, just as a diamond reveals a new facet each time its position shifts. Every day is a new cycle; every year is a new cycle. We have opportunities every day that are there for us to take advantage of.

It is the recognition of what these opportunities are that is important in letting our minds bring into focus and into being the fulfilment of the potential. Just as in the springtime the sun gets warmer, the earth warms up and is ready for planting, but if no one plants seeds, there will be no harvesting to be done. As the earth spins on its axis we have a new day, but if we have no thoughts in our minds as to the opportunities to be seeded into the actions of the day, then the day will unfold with little achieved. We may have a To Do List and we may accomplish certain routine chores, but the end of the day will invariably reflect only some rearrangement of our activities or responsibilities--paid the bills, bought the groceries, and we may have done the chores relative to living, but most probably it has not unfolded our spiritual potential in life. It merely allowed the continuation of the mundane pattern of living that we created, not the recognition of that seed of Reason awaiting to be developed on that particular day at that time, and so the opportunity to express it is lost forever.

Life is the opportunity for the power of Reason within each of us to become what we are meant to be. What are we meant to be? We are meant to be the true reflection of the universal quality of Reason. Like everything else, it does not happen except through growth, change, and the changing of the future from the past. If the future remains the same as the past, there is no change, growth, or development, and there is stagnation.

In this school of life we as students have to be aware, to re-evaluate this present opportunity, and to develop our true potentials. It is so common not to develop the inner potential. Of the billions of people in life, how many have the privilege of developing their inner potentials; of knowing who they are, what their inner potentials are, how they can be measured, how they can create the balanced channels, how they can use the powers of life--the power of the breath, the power of Consciousness through language, the power of mental discipline--and how those energies can be correlated into a focused reflection of the power of Reason?
